Hurley's Blog

In case you have not seen this yet, you should check out Jorge Garcia's (aka Hurley) blog. He seems really cool and down-to-earth for being one of the stars of the greatest show that has ever been made in the history all of mankind. You can check it out here. And I've added it to my blog list on the left.

Week Five

I am now finished with week 5 of the semester. 1/3 of my final semester as an undergrad is now over. I have submitted my application to grad school and have started posturing myself to apply for teaching jobs. (by that I mean trying to get my name out there.) I have finished everything I need to do to graduate and am starting to make the plans for the graduation and huge party afterword. I am getting so excited! I feel like this is such a big accomplishment for myself and I feel like this is going to be the second biggest day of my life (the first is, of course, my wedding day.) If you are interested, you can check out more here. Below are my stats for the semester so far. Its getting pretty stressful trying to keep up with all the work.

Pages read - 3,000
Hours spent in lecture - 56
Pages of notes taken - 60
Papers written - 5 (25 pages total)
Days called in sick to work to try to keep up with reading - 1

Week Two

I wanted to post about what it takes to be a historian and to study history. The historian's craft is not for the weak-of-heart. It takes someone who likes to read and who is dedicated enough to be able to go through massive amounts of literature. It is not easy to be a historian. (not that I'm calling myself a historian, at this point I am merely a student of history) I am going to do this at different points throughout the semester, but here are my stats for week 2:

Pages read - 625
Hours spent in lecture - 20
Pages of notes taken in lecture - 15
Papers written - 2 (9 pages total)
Someday earning the title 'Historian' - priceless
